Time for Three
Get ready for a night of classical music that defy the traditional genre classification. Time for Three is an ensemble of three classically trained musicians- violinist Nicholas Kendall and Charles Yang, and double-bassist Ranaan Meyer who play an uncommon mix of music with virtuosity and showmanship. They perform a wide variety of music: from classical Bach to their own originals and arrangements of bluegrass and folk tunes to a mash up of hits by the Beatles to Justin Timberlake and more.
Tiempo Libre will close out the SPAC On Stage series with an unparalleled performance that you won’t forget. Tiempo Libre is a three-time Grammy nominated Afro-Cuban music group that is at home in concert halls, jazz clubs, festival stages and dance venues around the world. Led by founder, pianist and bandleader Jorge Gómez, who was trained at Cuba’s premier conservatories, Tiempo Libre has been praised by the New York Times for its “dance music of sophistication and abandon”. When we share the stage with them on August 28 they will be highlighting music from their album, Bach in Havana. This Grammy nominated album connects the rhythm and sensibilities of Afro-Cuban music with the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach.
